I am experiencing a bug in version 1.1k on XP SP1. I created a Batch file called diff.bat which only calls c:\utils\examdiff.exe with the two files to compare. I have a command window open (cmd.exe) and run the batch file specifying the two files.
The comparison works, ExamDiff is listed in the Applications Tab in Windows Task Manager.
When I Exit Examdiff, the command window does not return. ExamDiff is no longer listed as an Application in Task Manager, but ExamDiff.exe is still listed in the Processes Tab. Once I force the ending of the process, then the command window prompt returns.
Did you mean version 1.6k, not 1.1k? Does it happen for all file pairs or only for some? Have you tried disabling change notifications under Options | Misc ?
