Pre-alarm

Post by MSpagni »

In some cases (I still don't know exactly when), comparing two trees (not in tree mode) sorted by relative path, the very first file is missing; that is, it doesn't appear in any of the panes even if present in both directories.
If, using file compare, I compare the two "missing" files (I also made them equal), then, returning to dir compare, the files appear.
Mora as soon as I discover it.
I had also some other odd effetcs, but I'm not sure EDP is to blame for those and I had no time to investigate.
N.B. EDP 15.0.0.20 64 bit this time :o

Please provide more details to reproduce this once you know them. Also, I'd recommend to use the latest build.

Things are worse than expected: many (but not all) files different don't appear.
Very annoying! :o

Consistently? Could it be filters? In 15 you can see filtered-out items.

No filters (as far as I know).
View filter: show all.
Quick path view filter: empty.

Yes, it seems consistent and the sorting mode is irrelevant.

Well, if you can come up with a minimal set of folder to reproduce, please send it to us. Do you see the same issue in both flat and tree modes? A screenshot maybe?

Same problem also in tree mode.
I doubt a screenshot could be useful because you can't see what isn't shown!

As you can (not) see, the files "keyboard.c" are missing from both panes.
That's where I made some changes in just one of the directories.

No need to say, I think: once I made them equal, the files correctly appear (as equal, of course).

According to viewtopic.php?t=2710, no more missing files? Or is it only for Windows XP? If so, could it be that you have different settings on that machine? And if so, which?

BTW, on your screenshot the "Use Comparison Filters" toolbar button is pressed, and on the status bars there's the same icon, indicating that some items were filtered out. If you click on it, you will see which. I don't know know it explains the issue but it's hard to debug without a pair of folders to compare.

Your concerns are legitimate, but the missing files are .c files and there are no other filters enabled (no date filter, no size filter, no attribute filter).
As soon as I'll stumble again on the problem, and I'm sure I will, I'll send you the dir content.
