In the settings,
what is the difeerence between the "Exclude patterns" in the "View Filter" page and the "Exclude patterns" in the "Dir Comparison" page?

Filters in "Dir Comparison" control what files/folders will be compared; filters in "View Filter" control what files/folders (out of the compared set) will be displayed. The latter can be changed after a comparison, without having to re-compare. After you change the former, you will need to re-compare.
