I have a user who installed FtpVC and then promptly forgot what they typed for the password (there really is no hope sometimes) .

We have no way of finding out what it is and uninstalling the application and reinstalling doesn't help.

I assume that there are some hooks in the registry that need to be removed so that we can install a fresh copy, get him to remember the password and then register the software.

There are two ways to reset the password:

1) Delete the "Password" value from the following Registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PrestoSoft\FtpVC\Settings

After that use blank password to log in.

2) Try some other user name (FtpVC will ask you to set and confirm a new password). Then go back to your previous user name and set up a desired password.

Brilliant. The registry edit did the trick.
