In select first and second file window, across the top there is 4 icons
one icon is view menu in view menu is some 5 settings and one is details
for file viewing and if I change to details view and then exit
the view setting will change back to icons view.
I'm using freeware ver. 1.7. I'v always used details view in the past with
no problem

Are you speaking of the Windows file open dialog?

Then send your complaint straight to Bill Gates at Microsoft ...

While Bill Gates may certainly influence adding remembering view types in the Windows Open File dialog, I have to admit that we implemented this feature in ExamDiff Pro. So we could add it to ExamDiff but never had time to do that. Perhaps in a future version...

it wouldn't be necessary to program this feature into each application if it were implemented by default in the Windows dialog.

It is nice if it works in one application, but it would be much nicer if it worked in _every_ application without thousands of programmers implementing it again and again ...
