Exclude folder pattern

Hi, I'm a day 1 user of Exam Diff pro. So please forgive any ignorant comment.
I'm using the software to compare two network folders. In each folder and its subsequent folders, I have a hidden _xyz diretory. The _xyz directory contains several folders and read-only files.
I simply want to ignore ALL _xyz folders and any files/folders under it. I've tried to use the following pattern, but it's not working.
:\*_xyz\*, _xyz\*
