Is there a way to check two directories and compare only the file size like "Consider files with same size identical". I have only marked the option "Consider files with different sizes different", but it takes forever (14k files). The files have different timestamps.

I am using EDP build 8.0.1.0

Could you post a screenshot of your relevant options here? Also a screenshot of the main window please.

The directory contains more than 14'000 files and it seems, that the contents is compared.

If you only set "Consider files with different sizes different" option, and the matching files sizes are identical, EDPro will have no choice other then compare the files fully (this is always the fallback scenario). What else would you expect it to do?

I am looking for an option like "Consider files with same size identical" so that the content has not to be checked. It should be possible for the user to decide which metadata has to be checked: size, time, CRC, attributes, ...

You need to explain what EDPro has to do for your scenario, I'm afraid.

All Metadata Comparison options are shortcuts, they allow the program to avoid full file comparison. Again, if none of them allow EDpro to determine whether files are identical or different, the program always fall back to full (content) comparison.

I need an option, that only compares the file size. If this matches, the files are considered identical.

I see now. Unfortunately, such option does not exist.

BTW, using the Identical CRC option is faster than full comparison, so you might want to try this.
