[8.x Beta] Not all PlugIns are okay with Win 10

Post by Alpengreis »

Hello PrestoSoft

Thank you for the new ExamDiff 8.x Beta for Win 10 (I use Win 10 Pro x64).

Unfortunately I have some problems with following included PlugIns:

- OOXML to Text ("OOXML2Txt") ...
Cannot start it, it requires the older .NET Framework 3.5 (.NET 2.0 and 3.0). Win 10 has only the new .NET Framework 4.6 installed (per default).
Could you make this compatible with the new .NET Framework please?

- JSON Format(ting) ("Tidy JSON") ...
Cannot start it, it requires the older .NET Framework 3.5 (.NET 2.0 and 3.0). Win 10 has only the new .NET Framework 4.6 installed (per default).
Could you make this compatible with the new .NET Framework please?

Additionally, this PlugIn is not listed on your site ...
http://www.prestosoft.com/edp_plugins.asp

- "odt2txt" ...
This PlugIn is VERY old. It's v0.3 from May 2007. Actual is v0.5 from Nov 2014. Maybe you can add a newer version?

Thank you very much for answer(s) in advance!

Kind regards and greetings from Switzerland,
Alpengreis

While we can change the target .NET Framework of OOXML (it's our own program), targeting .Net 4.5/4.6 will make the plug-in incompatible with Windows XP. Additionally, tidyjson is a third-party app, and we can't change it's target .Net framework. So the only solution I see here is to enable support of .Net 3.5 (which includes 3.0 and 3.0) in Windows 10, see the following link for details:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insi ... 7a4?auth=1

It's been added to the page now.

Unfortunately, we are unable to find any newer Windows binaries for odt2txt. If you happen to come across, please let us know.

First, thank you for fast support (again), I appreciate that very much!

All right!

That's good.

I had exactly the same problem (searched for binary without success) :-) Maybe - with enough time - I'll try to compile a new one, IF I would have success, I will send it to you - and of course, if I find new(er) binary, I give you the link ...

Thank you, psguru!

BTW, what happened when you tried using OOXML2Txt in Windows 10? Did it give you a prompt to install .Net Framework 3.5?

Yes, a popup appears. I just wanted to avoid installing an additional framework, but now (after your explanation) I understand that this may be necessary.

And - last but not least - now, I have installed the .NET Framework 3.5. It was absolutely no problem to install, starting from the prompt. Both reported PlugIns (above) run now.

I didn't have any issues comparing XLSX files.
