Filtering directories for attach process?

I know it is possible to filter files that are listed, but is it possible to filter out files and directories such as _private and *_vti that you do not want to "attach" so that I can just select a base folder (like the root) and then "attach" recursively?
For instance, attach
*.asp, *.css, *.txt, *.htm, *.html
excluding these directories
*_vti, *_private, *image, *icon
