What does a status of "Error" mean when comparing directories

Post by Adagio »

I have just compared two directories. The first has 15,883 files and the second has 15,863 files.
There are 20 files in the first directory for which the status id "Deleted".
Preceding each of them are a couple of files whose status ls "Error!".

The file that is labeled as deleted is in fact in both folders. In one its full path name is 295 characters. In the other the full path name is 293 characters. Can that cause it to be classified as "Deleted." (I realize they are both longer than the Window 8.1 length for a file name.)

Similarly, the two files that have a status of "Error!" are in fact in both folders. In the folder with the path name that is two characters shorter, the file can be opened. In the folder with the longer file name, I cannot open it.

Error status appears when there was an error during file comparison in Full Comparison mode, or when you cancel parallel full comparison (if it is enabled in options).
