Error 116 messages; cannot check in any files

Post by newengland »

Hi

I keep getting "Error 116 extracting from [path to] \Temp\ftpAF9.tmp and similarly named files.

I can check out files but get error messages. Unable to check anything back in.

Also getting "Stub of file xxx is invalid!"

How do I fix this and move on?

Thanks!

Solution to errors and problem with stub files

Post by newengland »

Thanks to the prompt and thorough assistance from the folks at prestoSoft plus some digging on my part, the problem is solved.

The issue turned out to be Comodo Firewall. Even though you can configure an application in CF to "Allow" you also need to relax other security checks so that FtpVC will work correctly and consistently.

Oddly, CF allows FTP in Dreamweaver without incident but caused trouble in both FtpVC and Filezilla until I tweaked the CF settings. Files appeared to transfer without error, but the file on the server ends up with zero bytes.

If you are having similar difficulties, use your FTP client to examine the stub files on your server, and check the file size.
