What did you do to EDP?
I didn't change the HW nor the OS, but now EDP is lightning fast.
Wow! :!:

I put EDP at work with my periodical 1TB backup. A good test bench. :)
I doscovered that if the operation (copy or delete) takes some time, then the message box that appears at first has a steady hourglass, then, after a few seconds, the client areas of the message box and of the main window become completely clear until the end of the operations.
Not a big problem; simply it's not nice to see because one can think the process il locked.

What message box is this? Unless I'm confused about the process you are describing, all file operations are done using the standard Windows Explorer API, which should use its own messages.

Nope. The message box is the one with the hourglass, at least in the beginning.
Then, as I wrote, the client area is completely clear but has the very same position and size.
I'll try to give you a couple of screenshots.

You're right: the copy/delete is as usual.
The message box I'm talking about probably comes after, probably when EDP rearranges its lists.

Which is expected if the list is huge. I think we squeezed as much speed from the list refresh as possible.

I can understand this, but I don't understand why a static message box and main window must suddenly turn blank.

Probably the UI thread is blocked at that time. Will be hard to reproduce but sounds like a pretty uncommon case.
