Excel xlsx files not compaing

Post by rossburnett »

Just recently with ED 8.0, and now with 9.0, I get an error message saying that these are different binary files when comparing spreadsheets (see attachment). This started happening this month after having no problems before. There's no problem if I manually save each to a csv version, but the plugin was able to do that until recently.

Please make sure that your XLSX plug-in (OOXML to Text) is enabled under Options | Plugins.

Thanks for the quick reply.

The OOXML option was checked.
I just found out that this behavior also results from .docx-docx and .doc-doc file comparisons.

This makes no sense as it was working fine with 8.0 until recently. I can't think of any changes I would have made to the Options other than the text compare panel to mask columns or similar changes.

Could you attach a screenshot of your plugin options?

I was about to send you a screenshot when I noticed that the "Use plugins..." was unchecked.
No idea how that happened. Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the help.
