Directory compare ignoring Regular Expression command line?

Post by dprince »

When I do a directory compare using the regular expression command line switch (slash j) it reports some files as different, but then when I compare the 2 files using the same regular expression, it reports them as identical. It appears that the directory compare is not taking the command line regular expressions into account. Can you confirm whether this is by design or a bug? I would expect that the regular expressions switch would apply whether doing a directory or a file compare, and also that the regular expression switch on the directory compare would be referring to text within each of the files of the directory compare. Thanks.

The /j option should work in directory comparison as well but only if you are using full file comparison (see Options | Directory Compare). If metadata comparison is used, file contents are not compared.
