[After getting the traces] The error you are getting is "426 Connection closed; transfer aborted", and it's coming from Microsoft FTP Service (part of IIS). I don't know what kind of network you are on. You may want to talk to your system administrator about this FTP error. They, in turn, ...

You are right, it's a different "problem". What happened in your case is that your have "Consider files with same CRC identical" option enabled. As a result, your top 2 pairs are IDENTICAL by their CRCs, and they are marked as such. The last files are different, and their are mar...

Yes, it is a bug in 3.3. See the last reply in

Directory comparison view filters always use full paths. So for instance, if you want to exclude all files that are located in "dir1" folder, use the following file path filter in View Filter:

dir1\*

While I couldn't reproduce your problem, with your files and options (closing takes less than 1 second on a 1-GHz XP box with 1 GB of RAM), there will be some changes in the upcoming maintenance release to make file closing faster. BTW, does it only happen when you close file comparison, not directo...

Yes, I think having the files, along with your options exported to a file, may help. Please send them to the e-mail address that will be PM-ed to you shortly.

This is something that has not been reported yet. Is there anything special about your files (e.g. are they very large)? Does the delay occur no matter what files you compare?

EDPro will automatically recognize a snapshot file and treat it as a directory snapshot rather than a file. So all you need is the following:

Code: Select all

examdiff <snapshot_file_path> <dir_path>
and then whatever options you want.

Topic: dir and file comparison inconsistent?

Yes, it is a bug in 3.3. It only occurs if a file doesn't have last linebreak at its end, and if Ignore Linebreak Styles setting under Options | Compare is unchecked. The bug will be fixed in the next maintenance release. In the meantime, the workaround is to check the above setting.

Try creating a new project.

So when you enter your password later, after the prompt, it works, and in the Project Options -- it doesn't?

When this happens, it means that your password has been incorrectly entered into the Project Options dialog. Go there and re-type your password.

Is the problem consistent? If so, could you send me your minimal directories (zipped), along with your options exported to a file, to the e-mail address that I just PM-ed to you?

I'm not convinced (yet) that there's enough difference (ha!) between 3.2 and 3.3 to warrant an upgrade charge.
Why not use 30 days of evaluation to make up your mind ?
