Re: The difference is made by EDP!
Maybe with an option to collapse the blank space (i.e. every sequence of spaces and/or tabs is collapsed to a single space)? I think I saw something like that in a program. But, of course, it does a mess with the code indentation... As a programmer, I find the idea of wrapping lines of code quite s...

Re: The difference is made by EDP!
One of your test files has spaces and tabs in it and the other just has spaces for indenting. It seems to me that EDP could either remove the tabs and excess spaces, then wrap the lines OR expand the tabs to some number of spaces, wrap the lines, and then ignore multiple spaces. I'd guess that which...

Re: Different behaviour of the same option
That seems strange to me. Finding one's way into Options and navigating the options tree to locate a specific option is such a deliberate process that it's hard to see how one could do it accidentally ... so the warning then is unlikely to be needed - unless of course one changed the 'wrong' option....

Re: Nonexistent XML files. Why?
Yes and no. There is an "_notes" directory shown in the compare. Your Windows Explorer screenshot showed the contents of ... wp-content\plugins\complex-ticketing\public one of whose sub-folders is shown to be "_notes". But in the EDP screenshot the fourth dwsync.xml file is show...

The screenshots problem is easy to work around - attach 3 to one post then 2 to a following post.

Re: Sorry, but...
OK, but the mailer thing is a side-issue. If a dump exists on your machine you should be able to find it, compress it (eg with 7-zip) then attach it to a mail or put it somewhere in the cloud and send Prestosoft its URL. I only wrote the info about collecting BSOD dumps for completeness. Most people...

Re: Sorry, but...
I don't know what a "standard registered mailer" is, but I can't see how that would determine whether a dump gets taken or not. A while back, in Windows 8.1, I went through the process described at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/wer/collecting-user-mode-dumps to ensure that...

Re: Saving a difference to a text file
I still think, if I get the folder paths correct, as displayed in the example diff file I pasted just above this post, command prompt should get it right and locate and remove the files listed in the diff files. Let's hope so. It'll certainly remove files, but I'd prefer to be absolutely certain th...

Re: Saving a difference to a text file
> What I meant was having a line break (en empty line between the folder paths and their files) Ah, ok. I think you didn't read my example (of how I recreated your problem to experiment with) carefully enough. I deliberately didn't have lists of files listed per directory (ie folder paths followed b...

Re: Saving a difference to a text file
I'm glad it helped. Regarding line breaks ... if I copy a block of (say) four result lines from EDP into either Notepad, or my usual text editor (Kedit), I end up with four lines of text, so I'm not sure what you mean. Are you saying the block of lines appear as one long line in your editor? What ed...

Re: Saving a difference to a text file
I decided to have a go at this to see how I'd do it. I have a folder that contains various "macro" files for my text editor, at: C:\Dropbox\JN_Kedit_Macros\ I made a new folder on my desktop, named "Kedit2", and copied everything from the first folder into it. I then added a few ...

Re: Speeding up EDPro on large directory comparisons
Presumably this applies to any anti-virus/malware application, if it scans every file that any other application opens to read.
Some av/am applications don't scan every such file on every occasion (unless you configure them to be paranoid).

Re: Ada syntax highlighting
Arbitrary syntax highlighting would be great! It's useful if it's not limited just to programming languages - ie not constrained just to concepts like variable naes, procedure names, builtin functions, what's a number, commenting, program structure etc. It's also useful if it can be used to colour a...

Yes, I know. I am not saying the clipboard history is bad idea for those who know it exists. I was just highlighting the risk it poses to naive users.

Re: Comparing clipboard contents
Thanks for the heads-up on the Win 10 clipboard history. On a machine only used for programming etc that (or a 3rd party equivalent) would be useful, but for a machine also used at home for banking etc it frightens me. I'll be adding to one of my scheduled tasks some code that checks (HKCU\Software\...
