I did not try the v4.5-beta version yet, but already have a question: will the new feature (http://www.prestosoft.com/blog/2008/07/ ... ching.html) help us to solve issues mentioned in this thread?

I don't really see the need to uninstall EDPro prior to reinstalling it though. I do this in order to prevent increasing counter values for commonly used DLL-s (as it was in Win9x). This is in order to provide a way for OS to recognize a case, when a non-used DLL can be deleted, because all install...

ExamDiff Pro uses Inno Setup installer, and it doesn't provide the mode you are asking for. Once the application is uninstalled, the previous installation directory is wiped out from your computer. Sorry, but I'm not sure that your answer is related to my question. Below are two reasons: 1) The dir...

Preserve installation path

Hello. Usually, when a new EDP version is out, I reinstall it via uninstall and install again (my habit from Windows 9x times). I want to install EDP on D:, but the default path is always C:, when I install it after uninstall. So sometimes I forget to pay attention to this, and by mistake install ED...

Can't remove participation in syntax highlighting

Hello. I compare two .CPP files, and EDP always paints panels according to C++ syntax, without regard to "Participate in syntax highlighting" option state. I see "CPP" extension only in one document type, where I try to remove the participation. Recompare or relaunching EDP after...

Hello. Let's suppose I have a file with 200 lines, and each line consists of text "Line 1" only (means all lines are the same). Let's assume I have second file with the same contents except line #100, which is "Line 2". Comparing these two files (no ignores) gives us proper compa...

If "Include" filter is empty, I would suggest to EDP developer to think about some warning, because there is no chance to see proper results (unless for debugging purpose). Or such warning already exists?

Maybe this feature can be achieved by simply adding "Append" checkbox to the "save diff" window? Or this window does not support adding elements?

As usual, if the file being saved does not exist, "Append" will have no meaning. Even no need to make it gray.

Yes, this feature seems to me very complicated and with a high risk of many potential bugs. Maybe there is a chance to see some particular case of it, i.e. comparing line-by-line (though I don't know what to do with binary files)? This seems to me simple enough, and in demand of several users - both...

Question to EDP developer: is it possible to turn off the intelligence of EDP, and show files line-by-line - without getting lines to be indicated as moved, deleted or inserted? No, it isn't. We've been thinking about implementing "fuzzy matching" where the user would be able to define th...

Dear Alex, Indeed this is a very similar gap in EDP's functionality, as described at: http://www.prestoforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=421 I cannot understand why EDP developers implemented the very complex matching/synchronization routines, but did not do simple byte-by-byte comparison like most compar...

Hello, Goerge255.

This issue probably has some relation to the forthcoming feature mentioned here:

psguru Thanks for the answer. I compare 2 text files (logs files). The information in them is written down by blocks. It is visible in drawing. All blocks are already synchronous. It is necessary for me to see changes in each line simply. Synchronisation is not necessary to me. How to turn off sync...

The fix is in the latest build (3.5.1.10).
(Sometimes nostalgia makes me to reread old messages...)

Probably you were speaking about v3.5.0.10, because v3.5.1.10 does not exist even today.
