Re: Pascal syntax highlight
SGI Pascal has a special form of character string, enclosed in double quotation marks, in which such characters may be included. A backslash ( \ ) escape character is used to signal the use of a special character. ANSI Pascal admits only character strings enclosed in single quotation marks and no e...

Pascal syntax highlight
I just noted that the pascal syntax highlight interprets the backslash ('\') inside a string as an escape character like in C. As far as I know (free pascal, turbo pascal) this is not true. Furthermore, if the backslash is the last character before the ending "'", the string is assumed as ...

Re: Why not both?
Good question. Maybe the most natural way is to slightly stretch the definition and put it as a "both" mode as I did in my first mail. Or perhaps this could simply be the standard mode. Do you see any problem for that? Someone needs the current mode? By the way: since as you know I use the...

Re: Why not both?
I see your point and I agree. Indeed I badly expressed mine. Let's put it that way: sorting by "time", you have the files present in the main pane sorted by time and, in the secondary pane, all the "added" files in a block at the end. Why not to put them in the position they owe ...

Why not both?
I needed to compare a couple of directories (& subdirs) sorting the files in chronological order.
I was disappointed discovering that the option "both directories" does not allow sorting by time.

Re: Save file? Why?
The version is EDpro 4.5.3.0 (n.b. private-traced: can be this?). There is no special sequence to follow. Simply start a comparison of a couple of binary files (plugins disabled) and then cancel the comparison. It doesn't miss a hit: every time I get the "Save first file" dialog. Maybe wha...

Save file? Why?
While comparing a couple of files in binary mode, if I click cancel (command that's often very slow to be executed) I get the dialog box: "Save first file".
There's nothing to save, I simply aborted a (binary) comparison.

Repetita juvant?
I have the auto-recompare option set.
When I edit both files and then I save them both at once ("save both files"), EDP does the save then recompares them twice.

Re: Failure on save
I got the same problem a few moments ago. A detail: I was doing a file compare (and editing) coming from a double click in a dir comparison session. That doesn't explain anything, I tried again in the same way modifying another couple of files and everything went fine, but I think it could be signif...

Re: Failure on save
Sure. Well... maybe!
I'm not allowed to attach a text file here.
I'll send you the option file via the official mail address.
N.B. I forgot to tell that it happens only sometimes. It's not exactly repetitive.
As soon as I can get more hints I'll tell you.

Failure on save
While comparing a couple of (text) files, I made some changes to both using the EDP built-in editor, then I clicked on "save both files" and I got: ExamDiff Pro --------------------------- Could not save file ... (the right pane one): Impossible to create a file if the file already exists....

Re: The path is lost... well, not existent indeed.
Sorry, no top solution yet. But a little idea yes: why are the empty directories at the top of the list even if I ask for a sort by path? It seems reasonable to me to find them at their "natural" position. Doing so, it becomes easier to remove them after having removed all the files of the...
