Re: Bug: crashing EDP with "skip resolved differences"

Yes. Perfection is expensive. I know, and that's why I've been a loyal paying customer since 2004 (even when I was getting a competitor's product for free from my employer) ... ... ... I just found an old email about ExamDiff from 2002. Bloody hell, I've been using ExamDiff (first free, then pro) f...

Re: Bug: crashing EDP with "skip resolved differences"

I did. I probably just automatically dismissed it (or possibly had it suppressed).

Which raises a question: is it really necessary to lose the undo buffer for something that is essentially a navigation change?

Re: How do I compare files from the explorer interface using a session?

Is it possible to default to the same (current) comparison mode when that setting is set?

Or alternatively, remembering the files/dirs in the current comparison and filling them in when the user switches to the same mode in the dialog (also when the setting is set)?

Re: Bug: Ignored lines by regex do not work always

They are marked with the ignored line colour whether the setting is on or off. Whereas with the other regex, there is a difference in marking added blocks, depending on the setting. Thus my claim of inconsistent behaviour. Also, please note that line 33 in the left file was matched with different li...

Re: Bug: Ignored lines by regex do not work always

The first two green blocks in the right file are added, and consist only of ignored lines.

You are already in Session 2, how can you switch to it again?

Those are links, not images (images were too large to attach or embed). Please click on them.

And yes, it is about added/deleted blocks, not changed.

And I do want to see ignored lines, because they split the blocks, allowing me to copy only the non-ignored parts.

Re: How do I compare files from the explorer interface using a session?

It almost works! To illustrate the problem: 1. In session #1 compare two files: file-1 and file-2 2. Still in session #1, compare two directories, dir-1 and dir-2 3. Open a new comparison, select session #2, and choose two different files: file-3 and file-4 (edit: fixed) 4. Set the global setting 5....

Re: Bug: Ignored lines by regex do not work always

No, the regexes are doing exactly what I intend them to do, I am just not explaining it very well. Images to the rescue! First set of images, using the setting name='[^']*(icon|signedo|last|mute|photo)[^']*' regex: setting unchecked setting checked Note that the two options produce exactly the same ...

Re: How do I compare files from the explorer interface using a session?

Fair enough. How about the alternative I suggested? Adding a [Keep files] button to the "new comparison" dialog (similar to [empty files]) should address the issue It could either pre-populate the new comparison dialog with the current "first" and "second" file/director...

Re: How do I compare files from the explorer interface using a session?

Or you can use the Options dialog and import your desired options from a previously exported file. Won't it overwrite the options of the current (default) session? That would be a bad thing. Files | Compare As Does not work for me. 1. Open a new comparison without files. 2. Type 11,22,33 into the l...
