Re: The path is lost... well, not existent indeed.
Sorry, no top solution yet. But a little idea yes: why are the empty directories at the top of the list even if I ask for a sort by path? It seems reasonable to me to find them at their "natural" position. Doing so, it becomes easier to remove them after having removed all the files of the...

Re: The path is lost... well, not existent indeed.
Right, only terminal items are shown in recursive comparison. Yes, that's correct and good. I simply evidenced that to say that I have no way to, e.g., perform a copy of the missing path step by step because there is no way to select a non terminal item. BTW: Thank you for the fix. You could also r...

The path is lost... well, not existent indeed.
I often use EDpro to keep in sync a backup copy of a subtree. Sometimes I want to copy an empty directory from a pane to the other. If the empty directory is not a subdir of a preexistent path but has as parent an "empty" directory (not exactly empty because of course it contains the relev...

A small bug
It's not so easy to explain it in full detail but please try to get the idea: compare a pair of trees with the "sort both directories" option, e.g. by path, so as to have "holes" in the left panel due to "added" files. mark a block of consecutive files with mixed status...

Re: ExamDiff ghost process
Already fixed? Wow!
I was fearing it was one of those very specific configuration bugs so hard to find on another machine.
Very good.
Thank you.

Here is it.
I forgot to specify: I edit the files with EDpro internal editor.

Re: Hint
Yes, of course.
But that operation takes me out of the "both" mode.
I didn't mean it's a bug, and it's ok indeed.
Simply it's a matter of remembering that... and that's a problem (for me ).

Re: ExamDiff ghost process
Got it! The simplest way to reproduce it: Compare a file in drive C: with a (different) file in drive G: ( network drive). Modify (edit) the file in G: at wish. Save the file modified and recompare... ExamDiff CPU = 99% Close ExamDiff and the ghost is created... If you do the same but with the secon...

Re: Hint
Yes indeed!I get pretty much what you want ...
Both directories: that's the magic spell I missed.
But I must be careful for it's a "fragile" setting: if I reverse the order then EDpro reverts to single sorting.
Not a big problem, once you're aware of.
Thank you very much.

Re: Hint
It's hard to make a screeshot of what's not yet available, so I try to clarify what I mean in this way. Sorting the left panel by directory: Current.gif Desired.gif Got the point? N.B. The best (IMHO) would be if for each directory the files are sorted by name. The best of the best would be to ba ab...

ExamDiff ghost process
Sometimes I find that an ExamDiff process is still running and steals CPU time even long after I closed the ExamDiff window. The first time I noted it was about a month ago when I tried to install a new beta. The installer complained that ExamDiff was still running. To discover it was right I had to...

Re: Binary comparision not correct
I second the request. So it looks like their Fast Mode is just a byte-by-byte comparison. We don't have this; perhaps it's a good idea to have something like this.
Sometime that method is simpler to understand.
Of course it should be available as an option in addition to the present mode.

Re: Hint
Well, maybe it's not easy but absolutely not impossible. Exactly as, when you compare two files, you leave a hole in the left pane for the lines present in the right pane but not in the left one and viceversa, then you can leave a "hole" in the file list at the relevant directory position ...

Hint
I very often use EDpro for directory comparison, and very often I sort the results by directory. The files present only in the other pane ("added") are not listed in the relevant directory but all appended in random order at the end of the list. In this case I almost always have to do the ...
