Re: A small enhancement request

That is unfortunate. I often need to compare large lists of files. Some of them get updated, others merged, and yet other deleted based on vague criteria that cannot be automated. If I remember correctly the previous version would scroll to the top of the list on deletion, losing the place and the c...

Re: A small enhancement request

Bug: Instead of moving one line down, the selection moves two lines down.

For example:

Code: Select all

  1
  2
 [3]
  4
  5
  6
  7
After deleting [3]:

Code: Select all

  1
  2
  4
 [5]
  6
  7

Re: A small enhancement request

In which case, I believe the same behaviour as down-arrow would be the less confusing option.

Re: A small enhancement request

If your objection is the clutter of the options screens, you could always make it registry-controllable.

Re: A small enhancement request

There is no such thing as one size fits all. It can easily be made configurable with different behaviours, for example: - Select the next (or last) file - Select the next (or last) line -- same as pressing down-arrow - Do not select anything -- current behaviour The problem with the current behaviou...

A small enhancement request

Currently when I delete a file from the directory comparison view, the file selection is cleared. This is inconvenient for keyboard operation.
Instead please select the following file (or the last one remaining in case the last one was deleted)

Thank you.

Re: Beyond Compare features I'd like to have in EDPro

Thank you for your suggestions. We are always looking into ways to improve ExamDiff Pro, and we will take into consideration all of the features mentioned. That said, some features are unlikely to make it into ExamDiff Pro anytime soon - in particular, porting to Linux would be very difficult given...

Speeding up EDPro on large directory comparisons

On windows 10: 1) Run settings. Search for "virus" and select "Virus & threat protection" 2) A new window "Windows Security" will open 3) Under "Virus & threat protection settings" click on "Manage settings" 4) Scroll down to "Exclusions" and click on "Add or remove exclusions" 5) Click on "Add an e...

Beyond Compare features I'd like to have in EDPro

Having recently started a new job, I asked IT to install EDPro on my machine. Unfortunately they declined, saying that they have Beyond Compare on the list of pre-approved applications and don't want to support yet another diff program. Oh well. After using BC for a couple of days, I still prefer ED...

Re: Cancel, please!

Revisiting this thread to note that CANCEL is unresponsive when comparing large nested directories with many files.

As IO is significantly slower than processing, checking the state of the cancel button before reading the next file should not adversely affect performance.

Re: User defined syntax highlighting

Revisiting the thread to add my vote for user-defined syntax highlighting.
It could be done with an XML/JSON/INI file to classify various language elements using lists of values or regexps.

Cheers!

This level of responsiveness is the reason I never even considered switching to any competing product.

Re: Bug: diff markers and arrows in the directory comparison are completely off

I cannot share those files for legal reasons.

I figured out what went wrong:

The arrows and markers are correct for the "Show All" mode, but they stay the same when I am in the "Show Only Differences" mode, which is incorrect.
This should be easily reproducible on your end.

Thank you,
Alex.

The diff markers and arrows in the directory comparison are completely off
