Plugin changes not stored

In my usual XP machine I tried to change the pdf plugin to use an older version of PDFtoText as I already did with the previous versions. The change is operative but is not stored, so each time I close and reopen EDP the chages are lost. I tried creating a new plugin for it instead of modifying the ...

Some folders with differences remain unexpanded.
Sounds familiar...

Re: Please update the following plugins (for next release)

That's exactly the exe file I used.

I made some mental confusion because of the name of the package (W64) and the directory name (mingw32), but I tried on WinXP 32 anyway.

I repeated the test now and I got the same result: "Impossible to find libiconv-2.dll".

Re: Please update the following plugins (for next release)

I didn't find any 32 bit version of odt2txt there. I only found "mingw-w64-i686-odt2txt-0.5-3-any.pkg.tar.zst". Running the contained odt2txt in WinXP 32 bit results in "odt2txt.exe - Impossible to find libiconv-2.dll". Maybe this can explain the reduced size. Off topic: since th...

Re: Comparing PDF files

To use Calibre as a plugin I had to resort to a batch file, but this is not a problem for me. The processing is a bit slow and the results are only a bit better than with pdftotxt, so I leave it as an extra tool just in case. With my dismay, both pdftotxt and Calibre insert a lot of empty lin...

<inline>

I just discovered the possibility of the "inline" plugin call (EDP is always a mine of options!) but... If <inline> is set in this field or if no extension is set, the plug-in is for inline use only. <inline> doesn't seem to work and no extension... Extension list cannot be empty. Then it ...

Wow! Thank you.
Surely I'll give it a try and I'll let you know.
All my previous experiments failed miserably. :(

Re: Comparing PDF files

The standard plugins (and PDF to text is a standard plugin) are usually installed or updated when you install/update EDP, unless you explicitly forbid it. You should see something like this. (Please ignore some specialized plugins I added.) Clipboard01.jpg A problem arises if the line breaks of the ...

Re: Support for COBOL

Don't forget you at least have a possibility: you can define a regexp for detecting comments in your files. This has also the bonus of allowing to enable the "ignore comments" option. F.Y.I. I am an Ultraedit user and I made many .uew syntax definition files. They include the comments defi...

Re: F.Y.I.

A friend of mine gave me an old computer of the 2000. It's a Pentium II, strictly a 32 bit. I was thinking of using some lean Linux distro to run a browser and OpenOffice. Gosh! No 32 bit Linux distribution is still maintained, not to say about a modern browser. Using XP on it? It's a snail (256 MB ...

Just for your information, not to complain: the 32 bit version of EDP portable is not compatible with XP.

Re: EBCDIC is not being displayed correctly

It is one of four EBCDIC code pages (alongside 500, 875 and 1026) with mapping data supplied by Microsoft to the Unicode Consortium, and one of seven (alongside 273, 424, 500, 875, 1026 and 1140) supported by Python as standard. Wow! The best to create a mess, I think. :D EBCDIC... And you call me ...
