Re: A small enhancement request

No, unfortunately it wouldn't. What I said still stands, no matter how you slice it. Our general approach is not to add features that are not widely requested if it involves making user experience for the majority of users worse.

Re: A small enhancement request

Yes, this scenario is not handled well.

I'm not enjoying doing this but after giving it some more thought we decided to remove this change. There is no way to handle different scenarios without impacting performance or memory footprint, and neither can be sacrificed in order to add this feature.

Re: A small enhancement request

I'd prefer not to have a new option, we have too many already. So if we were to do it, it's have to be one default behavior.

Re: A small enhancement request

I'm not sure. What, for example, should happen if the next item is blank (a placeholder for the real item in the opposite pane)? Should it be selected? If not, the rules may quickly become non-intuitive. Also, in some cases, based on the user options, a blank folder is shown if a deleted item was th...

Re: Saving a difference to a text file

Start by ignoring numbers using the link I sent earlier. Maybe then the first issue will get resolved.

Re: Saving a difference to a text file

I'm not sure what you mean by ignoring the first file completely. You can, however, ignore lines using regular expressions. See, for example, https://www.prestosoft.com/edp_tutorial_adv2.asp

Re: Saving a difference to a text file

Please tell me how to do this. I have to find an easier and less tedious way to do it. I will be eternally grateful to you.
You can start by using the GUI to compare directories. Once you got the results you like, use the same command line you have but with directories instead of files.

Re: Saving a difference to a text file

As you can see, the folder "C:\temp\Mount\Users\Default\" is listed twice because it appears in both text files even though only one of the text files have excess lines (files) in the folder. What I want to do is when creating a difference file, I want to completely ignore what's in the first txt f...

Re: Beyond Compare features I'd like to have in EDPro

Thank you for your suggestions. We are always looking into ways to improve ExamDiff Pro, and we will take into consideration all of the features mentioned. That said, some features are unlikely to make it into ExamDiff Pro anytime soon - in particular, porting to Linux would be very difficult given ...
