Ignore file names when comparing directories?

Might sound like an odd thing to want to do, but is it possible to ignore file names when comparing directories? For example, to compare on time stamp, file size and CRC, regardless of whether names match or not? I realise this would require checking each file in directory 1 against each file in dir...
